DJJS’s Holistic Education  Program – epitomizes an internal evolution process that enables a child to reach out to his/her own self, realizing his latent potential. We believe strengthening the backbone of our country, helping in elimination of vices and laying a rock-like strong foundation for virtues.

Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji says

“Any kind of education is justified only when it enables an individual to serve the society through the potent of his/her own wisdom”.

It works on building an overall character of a child through holistic education. It also focuses on empowering students through initiatives, like — capacity building, health care, nutrition, field visits and establishing a connection with his divine existence that rests in spirituality.

The program particularity focuses upon the underprivileged and underperforming children some of whom are drop outs or even first generation learners.  The students are encouraged and motivated regularly. They are given individual attention and personal counseling. Mainstream education initiatives are promoted through DJJS schools in Sahrsa, Bihar and Shakurpur, New Delhi. The program extends its reach to empower women through education.

APPROACH

A universal solution to all persisting problems of the contemporary world is — education. But, today education is often limited to imparting knowledge for the development of some skills for earning livelihood and sustaining life. However, as said by Swami Vivekananda-

“Education is not the amount of information that is put into your brain and runs riot there undigested all your life. We must have life building, man making, and character making assimilation of ideas. If you have assimilated five ideas and made them your life and character, you have more education than any man who has got by heart a whole library.”

Education in true sense is acquiring life skills which enable overall development of an individual. Unfortunately, the present day education system does not reflect a promising future for nurturing young potential. It has lost its holistic nature and has been subjected to enormous commercialization, thus getting restricted and incomplete in its deliverance.

Education at DJJS, is perceived as a process of over all development which is the birth right of each individual irrespective of his social, economic and cultural positioning.  The program aims at conferring equal opportunity to all for acquiring knowledge. The approach followed is grounded in the principles of traditional systems of education which were designed to create true human beings. Input of information can create beings that can work like machines but fail to inculcate values of humanity. Manthan, true to the meaning of the term, instigates a churning process to develop, nurture and enhance beings with a sound power of discretion enabling them to lead a righteous life.

Based on the historical testimonies of instrumentality of principles of yoga and ayurveda in achieving sustainable living, we work on devising ways of incorporating these timeless principles in reinforcing holistic systems of education. We view education as the key tool for motivating children and youth to successful and sustainable living. The broad objectives of the program are to nurture academic excellence, develop life skills & prevention from drug & substance abuse and health & nutrition.
